Makeshift Hop Dryer

I spent a good portion of my Saturday morning building these 3 hop dryers from 2x4s and common window screen for the coming hop harvest. Each dryer is partitioned into 2 parts giving me a set of 6 compartments, one for each hop variety. The fresh hops once ready will be placed into one of the compartments by variety. They are stackable so by placing a box fan underneath the dryers I'll be able to dry all varieties at once in a cool dry room with very low humidity while the fan constantly circulates the air. Theoretically this should take around 2 full days for the hops to properly dry. I originally thought about using a dehydrator which is a much quicker method of drying, however I learned the heat even at it's lowest setting might effect the lupulin oils inside the hops where as the room temperature, fan method is the safest and cheapest way of getting the most out of your precious hops.

Cheers!
